SCCPTA & SCPS are partnering to collect donations for those affected by Hurricane Harvey. Complete details, as well as a suggested donations list, is attached below.
Because the donations list is rather extensive and time is short, I'd like to suggest that you focus your collection on a few items. One of the best donation drives I've seen encouraged children to pick out a box of their favorite cereal to share with another child. It was very concrete and easy for children to understand. Something simple - a can of soup, a roll of paper towels, etc - may also be easier for busy parents.

SCCPTA will award college scholarships of $850 each to four graduating SCPS seniors. Winners were chosen based on academic achievement, school activities, community involvement, and financial need. SCCPTA will honor these students at their senior awards nights. Our 2017 scholarship winners are:

This is a great opportunity for newly elected officers to receive local training to get a jump start for their exciting role next school year. Also, we have some awesome vendors participating (listed below). PTA/PTSAs and other Booster or Support organizations are invited to attend this Vendor event! More details to be provided.

The awards ceremony is a wonderful breakfast celebration where all the attendees celebrate the award winning PTA/PTSA units, mingle to meet new friends, and share ideas. The SCCPTA Awards Celebration is scheduled for May 10th, Legacy Club at Alaqua Lakes. SCCPTA will be sending an evite to all local PTA/PTSA units with event details. We encourage your participation to submit for awards and to attend the award celebration. Don't delay with your PTA/PTSA's RSVP of the number of attendees and payment.

Additionally, we are proud to announce that on March 31, 2017 we will hold two random drawings for a ticket each to the Awards Luncheon at our Leadership Convention in July. The entries will be from each local unit that has submitted at least one award application prior to March 31st. We look forward to hearing about all the good things that you are doing!

For over 120 years, National PTA has been encouraging families to get more involved in their child’s education. Help us celebrate PTA’s long legacy of family engagement during National PTA's Take Your Family to School Week--Feb. 13-17, 2017.
This year's theme is Celebrating the Changing Faces of Families. National PTA has many fun, pre-planned family education events for you to choose from if you are looking for ideas.
Florida PTA is pleased to offer a total of four (4) scholarships, one each in the following categories: University, Fine Arts, Community College, and Vo-Tech, to a student graduating in the 2016-2017 school year. This is a one time (non-renewable) award of $2,000.00 and will be awarded to a worthy student who is interested in getting a start in life through higher education. This award is specifically for a student who wishes to pursue their education at a University, Fine Arts School, Community College, or Vo-Tech.
All applications for the FL PTA Scholarship Program (click for details) must be postmarked no later than February 1, 2017 to be considered. .

On September 28, 2016, the Florida Department of Education will observe Dads Take Your Child to School Day statewide. This initiative is a wonderful opportunity for dads or other male role models to get involved in their child’s education and to highlight the significant difference they can make by taking a more active role.
