2022-2023 Seminole County Council Board
ABOUT SHELLY
First and foremost, I am a mother to an incredibly special young man with autism. When my son was diagnosed at 2 1/2 years old, it quickly became apparent how important it was for me to understand the challenges he would face in the educational system so that I could be a voice for him. When it first came to joining PTA, he was my why. The more I became involved, the more I realized how critical it is to be an advocate for ALL children. There are so many children without a voice that need to be heard. They need to be understood. They need to be cared about and respected. That is how my why became ALL children, and why I believe in the mission of PTA. |
ABOUT KATIE
After 37 years as an ESE teacher, I was not ready to leave advocating for children. PTA has given me the opportunity to advocate for children, families, and our communities. I cherish the chance share what I have learned to new volunteers and connect intersecting organizations to amplify the work of each for the good of all. Please reach out with questions and concern. As Margaret Mead eloquently said, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed individuals can change the world. In fact, it's the only thing that ever has." |
ABOUT AMY
I am mom to two middle school boys who love swim team, scouts and the piano. I have volunteered in elementary and middle school PTAs including serving as Media Chair and President. I work as an HR Administrator and substitute teacher within our SCPS schools. I am a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) with MBA from Rollins College and BA in Advertising & PR from UCF. I joined PTA to help others and make a positive difference in my community. |

ABOUT VENNESSA
For as long as I can remember, I have dedicated myself to the education of children, including my own. Since the beginning, I volunteered as the room mom every year of schooling. When my son, a Senior at Crooms Academy, entered high school, I became the Hospitality Chair, then onto two years as President. I am now the Corresponding Secretary. In one way or another, I have embraced being the person people trust with their children, whether as the neighborhood house where all the children played, or the many years I taught gymnastics. I was a graduate at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing. I take every role in PTSA as an honor to help champion the bond between student, faculty, and institution. |
